Best Socks for Running
The best type of socks will be individual to each runner. However, there are certain materials to be aware of when purchasing running socks. Let’s face it – if you end up with an expensive pair of running shoes and a cheap pair of socks, your comfort or performance could suffer.
But, finding a good pair of socks that are specifically designed for running (think sweat-wicking and breathable) will not only help keep your feet comfortable on your runs but will help reduce the risk of injuries like blisters.
When looking at sock material, try and avoid cotton. Not only will cotton hold onto any sweat in your shoes, but it will also hold in heat. Instead, find socks made of merino wool or polyester, both of which can help wick sweat away from the foot and keep you dry.
If you find that you’re a runner with multiple blisters as you run, consider your socks’ cushioning ability. Some brands have no cushion at all, while others provide different levels of thickness in the sock material, providing extra support where needed to help protect your skin from rubbing.
